New Public Procurement Law enacted by Serbia’s National Assembly

The currently applicable Public Procurement Law was enacted in late 2012 and took effect on 1 April 2013. After two years in force, the Law was amended twice, both times in 2015 – in February and in July. Those amendments further harmonised the Law with EU public procurement law.

In the process of Serbia’s accession to the European Union, harmonisation with acquis communautaire in the field of public procurement is covered by Negotiation Chapter 5 – Public Procurement. As a candidate country, the Republic of Serbia is required to fully harmonise its public procurement legislation with acquis communautaire and ensure its full application at all levels, from national to local.

The draft new Public Procurement Law has been published on the official website of the National Assembly of the Republic of Serbia and is currently undergoing the enactment procedure.
